Central Penn College Lady Knights take two at tri-match
The Central Penn Lady Knights picked up two wins during a Monday, September 16 tri-match with Davis College and Trinity Washington University. Coming off five straight losses, the Lady Knights were looking to turn the season around, starting with the Davis College Falcons. The match began with the Lady Knights losing the first two sets (4-25 and 9-25) and staring down at a sixth straight loss. Coach Jason Barshinger quickly pulled the team together in the third set and the team finished winning the final three sets (25-19, 25-14 and 15-13) to win the match. Senior Brandi Kinard led the comeback with 17 kills and 7 aces. Freshman Abria Allen-Williams added 13 assists and 6 aces. Stats from the match with Davis College.
In the final game of the tri-match, Central Penn took on Trinity Washington University. The Lady Knights lost the first set (19-25) to the visiting Lady Tigers in a back and forth contest. Seniors Brandi Kinard and Marissa Monteiro led the Lady Knights back as they won the next three sets (25-23, 25-17, and 25-12) to win the match. Kinard dominated with 22 kills and 8 aces and proved to be too much for the Lady Tigers to handle. Monteiro played great defense and added 3 digs and 3 blocks.
