Womens Soccer Team Donates Proceeds from their Bake Sale to the Feel Your Boobies Foundation in Recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The Central Penn women’s soccer team was involved in another community service project. This time to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness month. The team conducted a bake sale in conjunction with working the concession stand at a recent men’s soccer team match.
Coach Grubesky stated, “The players wanted to wear pink to promote awareness about the importance of early screening for breast cancer. I told them that we also need to do a project to raise money for cancer research and not just wear pink socks during our game.”
Grubesky added, “I am very proud of the girls for designing and implementing a plan to hold a bake sale. The players and my wife baked a variety of cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and other baked goods to sell at the game.”
Coach Grubesky also said, “We raised $121.25 and gave the money to Kristin Fike, the advisor for the College’s Against Cancer club, to donate to the Feel Your Boobies Foundation.
According to their website, “The mission of the Feel Your Boobies® Foundation, a breast cancer non-profit, is to use our name to target women under 40 with life-saving calls to action, and encourages them to share the message.”
According to Coach Grubesky, “Based on Kristin’s recommendation, we thought this was a good organization to donate the funds to because our players and female coaches are under 40 and our project ties directly into their mission.”
