Knights Baseball Team Shows Improvement

By Murray Ruggiero lll, Student Reporter

This 2017 baseball season was a record-breaking one for the Knights. The team had its first winning season with a record of 15-14. The Knights performed at home, posting an 8-3 record. This marks the second year in a row with a great home record, last year the team went 8-1. The team's winning percentage went from .396 to .517—a big jump from last season, proving the program is trending in the right direction.

The Knights improved in almost every statistical category year over year. The team batting average increased from .301 to .304, on base percentage from .401 to .409 and ERA from 7.86 to 5.21.

The baseball team had its best season in the program's history, since becoming a four-year college. The knights are currently nationally ranked and waiting to hear if they will receive a bid to the Small College World Series. The highlight of the season was April 28 and 29 when the Knights beat Christendom College and Williamson Trade College—both USCAA conference opponents—back-to-back. Both contests were double headers, meaning the Knights played four games in two days. These wins pushed the Knights record over .500 and put them in contention for the USCAA Small College World Series.

We congratulate the Knight’s baseball team for a great season!
