Central Penn Knights Receive National Championship Bid

The Central Penn College baseball team has received a bid to participate in the USCAA National Championship tournament. The tournament, known as the “Small College World Series,” will take place at East Field Park in Glens Falls, N.Y. and is being hosted by the College of St. Joseph’s Vermont. This marks a historic event for Central Penn College, as this is the first time in school history that the Knights have qualified for the National Championship Tournament.

The 2017 USCAA Baseball Small College World Series will be held at East Field Park in Glens Falls, New York. The 7,000 seat stadium was opened in 1980, and has been the home to Double A affiliates of the Chicago White Socks and Detroit Tigers. East Field Park also held the 2005 and 2006 NJCAA Baseball World Series. East Field Park is currently the home field of the Glens Falls Golden Dragons.

Central Penn received the 9-seed in the tournament and will square off against the 8-seed, Bluefield State College on Monday, May 15 at 8:30 a.m. during the first game of the tournament. Bluefield State College of Bluefield, West Virginia, is also participating int he USCAA National Championship for the first time, coming off an 11-31 season.

The tournament festivities will begin with a parade of athletes through downtown Glen Falls at 7:15 p.m. on May 14 and will be immediately followed by a home run derby at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, May, 15 at 8:30 a.m. the 10-team, double elimination tournament will begin, with Central Penn taking part in the first game.
