Going into Tuesday night's game at the Yellow Breeches Sports Center in New Cumberland, the Central Penn men's indoor soccer team knew they had their work cut out for them. Their opponent had previously beaten the Knights during the regular season.
Central Penn got off to a slow start, conceding a goal in the opening five minutes to go down 1-0. However, the Knights fought their way back and scored two quick goals by Kyle Vargas and Kyle Stauffer to take a 2-1 lead.
Central Penn created a couple more chances to close out the half but couldn't capitalize to extend their lead.
Coming out of the break, the men were aware of the fight ahead, but knew what needed to be done. Midway through the second half, Vargas extended the Knights lead to 3-1, before Max Thorpe made it 4-1.
Although the Knights were strong defensively, they allowed one more goal to make it 4-2, but the other team's efforts weren't enough, and the Central Penn Knights were crowned the champions.
Tuesday's game was the last game for seniors Dylan Kleintop and Kyle Stauffer.
